I am a pacifist. So much so I truly believe peace should be a human right, not a rare commodity to fight for or a luxury that depends on money, politics, age and gender. And because of this belief I can't comprehend the abuse and injustice some humans are subjected to in their lifetime. It affects me deeply. In my field - birth - there is injustice too. And it’s a big one. Because money, politics, age and gender discrimination continue to prevent peace for some of us on this planet during our lifetimes. Women call me, text me or email me to tell me how abusively they have been treated during labour. I work for free as a volunteer at Sheila Kitzinger's Birth Crisis which means my phone number is advertised to women who need to tell their traumatic birth stories. My work there led me to set up a twin organisation in Spain (Escuchando con el Corazón). Soy pacifista. Tanto es así que creo firmemente que la paz debería ser lo normal y establecido, no un bien escaso por el que luchar o un lujo que depende de la economía, política, edad y género.  Y por esta creencia no puedo comprender que haya seres humanos que sufran maltrato e injusticias en esta vida. Me afecta profundamente. En mi trabajo, el parto, hay injusticias y bien grandes, también relacionadas con la economía, política, edad y género. La discriminación por estos factores sigue siendo un obstáculo para que muchas de nosotras encontremos paz durante nuestra vida en este planeta. Las mujeres me llaman, escriben y mandan mensajes para contarme el maltrato que han sufrido en sus partos. Trabajo para la red de apoyo Birth Crisis creada por Sheila Kitzinger para escuchar a madres traumatizadas durante el nacimiento de sus hijos y mi teléfono se anuncia para mujeres que necesiten este servicio.
